Things to Know

Some of Savannah's beautiful parks and squares allow sound amplification.
Some do not.  (scroll down to pg. 14 for individual park location/capacity/amp info.)
The City of Savannah website has specific information.

Some churches and officiants have music that is 'off limits'. Make sure your music is on the 'Ok to Play' list.

Bottles of water and something to fan the bugs & heat away with, are 'must haves' for guests attending outdoor weddings in the summer.

Wedding cake with Butter-cream or Cream-cheese frosting will melt in the
heat of a summer wedding.

The South Carolina/Georgia coast is hot, muggy & buggy usually starting in late May and continuing till October.
An evening wedding on the beach can circumvent all three

Traffic to Hilton Head Island or Tybee Island on summer Saturdays can be fairly heavy.  Make sure guests, participants and vendors give themselves plenty of time to get to your wedding site on time.

Forsyth Park is beautiful for weddings.
Be aware that visitors, sand gnats and mosquitoes abound during the warm weather months.
A police officer is assigned and yellow/black, (do not cross) tape is usually put up to prevent visitors from wandering into your wedding.  Wide white ribbon (wide enough to be very visible) is so much prettier but make sure it can be seen.  I've seen a cyclist knock himself off of his bike when he hit a gauzy black ribbon as he rode through during preparation for a wedding.

The water in the fountain is dyed green the week of St. Patrick's.

Lafayette Square is beautiful with St. John the Baptist cathedral on one corner and the Hamilton Turner Inn on another.

The fountain is dyed green the week of St. Pat's and standing too close to the fountain will result in green spots on your clothes.

Lafayette is on Abercorn St. which is a main thoroughfare, so motor traffic is quite noisy on weekends and at rush hour (around 5pm) on weekdays

The fountain itself, burbles beautifully so make
sure your officiant speaks loudly enough to
be heard by your guests.
